Ever wonder what the barcode on the back of your license does?

That chunky barcode on the back of your driver's license is a PDF417. It is a stacked two-dimensional barcode that encodes your name, address, date of birth, license number, physical description, and more in a compact, machine-readable format.

It's how scanners at airports, bars, and pharmacies instantly pull up your info.

100% private. Everything runs in your browser. No images or data are collected, stored, or transmitted. (Seriously, press F12 and check the network tab!)

How it works

  1. Tap "Scan Your Barcode" to open your camera
  2. Flip your license over and hold the barcode in the frame
  3. We decode the barcode in real-time and show you the data
